The History of the TSOAQ Macleans Bridge Classic Car Display
Each year on Mothers day, TSOAQ hosts the Macleans Bridge Classic Car Display, in the park adjacent to Macleans Bridge on Beaudesert Road, south-west of Brisbane CBD. This is a huge event with hundreds of classic sports cars and Grand Tourers on display. If you're into exotic motor cars and you love a great day out, then this is the must do event of the year.
Car clubs are invited to this event by the TSOAQ, who have tried over the years to keep up with changing car trends, yet remain faithful to the intention of having a special day just for sports and "classic sporting" cars. Each major brand is allocated space, and where practical , the sporting saloons are separated from the sports cars. Vehicles from the 30's to current typically attend: Triumph, Healey, Jaguar, MG, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Delage, Morgan, Rolls-Royce, Benetly, AC, Lotus, Allard, Bolwell, NIssan, to name a few.
Car clubs are encouraged to have a place where existing & prospective members can come for information, support etc. Many clubs have well-organised BBQ's etc.. The TSOAQ runs a competition for "best car of the day", that all entrants and public can vote for. There is organised parking for about 700 cars, and plenty of room for non-display cars, so dont avoid coming just beacuse you dont have a show car.
As with all big events, it requires lots of helpers on the day. Whilst the committee do most of the hard work to organise the event, they do need the help of handful of members on Saturday , to mark out the paddock and on Sunday to man the gates etc. If you would like to assist , please contact your favorite committee member today.

What did you do on Mothers Day? Out to lunch in an overcrowded noisy restaurant with the family testing your self control to the limit? Spent far too much on a date made up by the Americans specifically to sell more greetings cards?
Well here’s a thought for next year’s diary, why not take her on a nice little picnic. She doesn’t need to know the destination – it’s a surprise! And she also doesn’t need to know that the picnic site will have some of South East Queensland finest old (and new) motors on display either (because that’s the other part of the surprise) - Macleans Bridge Classic Car Display
As my wife Lynne owns a very nice TR6, I can’t use this rouse on her, as she’s always keen to attend (Note: rain or shine for those readers who didn’t attend this year as a result of a little dampness underfoot).
The TSOA of each state take it turn to host a National Event. Last years National Event was hosted by TSOA WA. This years TSOA National Event will be hosted by TSOA NSW. Thanks to TSOA WA for an excellent week of event and we all look forward to this years Nationals.
